November 28, 2013: Music

Today is Thanksgiving (state the obvious, right?) Or is it Shopgiving, I’m a little confused. Either way, it seems that today would be appropriate to write about one of the most important things in my life. It’s something I could not live without and that is music. It is what I have chosen to do with my life, my career path, how I define myself. It’s something impossible to articulate, which is what makes it so precious.

I am so thankful for this beautiful gift and my ability, not only to appreciate it, but to be able to create music. Having the ability and desire to make music is a common one, but having the ability and the means to focus and hone that skill to a high level is unique to a few people. I am grateful to be among those few and to have the ability and passion to pursue what I love.

I may go a day or two without practice in the intense sense of the word, but I never go a day without somehow making music, or listening to music, whether on the radio/CD or in my head. Music is who I am and I am so happy that it is.
